Ground Assault Badge By G.H. Osang, Dresden this desirable piece is two-part construction with riveted eagle, in silvered tombac, with makers maker clearly stamped on reverse “G.H. Osang” with a lovely patina.
The Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe by G. H. Osang of Dresden was instituted April 1, 1942, and was awarded to all soldiers, NCO’s and officers who accumulated at least three different fighting days on which they fought with bravery.
The oval shaped obverse features black clouds with a lightning bolt coming out of it into mountains, all set below a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a swastika within one of its talons and surrounded by an oak leaf. This is a beautiful example of a difficult to source original Luftwaffe-issued badge.
