MK3A Helmet Set
British Royal Air Force Jet Pilot Flying Helmet known as a Bonedome. The rarely found Mk. 3A flying helmets were R.A.F issue from the early 1970`s and superseded the G-Type/Mk.1A combination and Mk.2 and 2A flying helmets. They were used by all front line pilots flying rotary and fixed wing aircraft, this included subsonic and supersonic aircraft, everything from early Hunters to Lightning's. The Mk 3A was able to be fitted with a boom mike for helicopter and light aircraft applications and xthe Mk.3B had integral Oxygen-Mask hooks for use with the P/Q-Type oxygen-mask. However since both have the same internal specifications (also as the more commonly found Mk.3C flying helmet) they were very versatile and could be adapted as needed, including by using the late G type cloth inner with mask hooks (anecdotal information from ret'd RAF fighter pilot). The Mk.3A/B helmet has a single visor (known as the Mk2 visor) which locks in various positions on the center rail, these visors were issued in various tints from clear to dark tinted and were eventually superseded by the twin visor Mk.3C helmet. This flying helmet is in great overall condition, and comes complete with an anti-glare replaceable visor, type G inner helmet with mask hooks, wire loom, and microphone inside Type P oxygen mask. A great, and rare addition to your militaria collection.
