Luftwaffe Boot Fighting Knife

Luftwaffe Boot Fighting Knife

£525.00Price

An early WW2 Luftwaffe issue 'Kampfmesser der Wehrmacht Luftwaffe' pilots and air crew boot knife in steel scabbard. Hilt with rivet retained wooden grip scales has steel cross guard to the front. 6 ½” long single edged blade with false edge to the upper tip is struck with the correct Eagle 5 ‘Stick Bird’ Luftwaffe issue and acceptance mark to the right side of the ricasso (see page 78 of German Combat Knives 1914 to 1945 by Christian Mery). In its correct issue black painted steel scabbard with rivet retained boot spring clips. A simple but very handy and effective combat knife these were issued to Luftwaffe air crew, the spring clips allowing them to be worn in the top of the pilot or air crews boots or clipped onto a belt or pocket etc. They were also very popular with Luftwaffe ‘Fallshirmjager’ paratroopers, being that elite units equivalent of the British Fairburn Sykes Commando dagger. In very good condition with nice grip scales, a well marked blade in a very good scabbard with intact clip and much original black paint finish. A nice example of a scarce WW2 German air force issue fighting knife.
