German Wehrmacht Belt & Buckle

£450.00Price

Ordinarily these belt / buckle combinations are fairly numerous and relatively easy to source, but occasionally you find one with a history that is so traceable and interesting it immediately becomes something of a rarity.

This apparantly normal "Heer" EM/NCO belt is actually a bit special. Not only is the buckle marked RS&S for for Richard Sieper & Sohne Lüdenscheid on the reverse but it still has some of its original Feldgrau paint on the front and reverse (more visible on the reverse). In very good condition, with minor signs of wear and age. The belt carries a length marking of 90cm (35"), the date 11/42 and more vitally a stamp for the 2/ Pz R. 1 which denotes a Panzer unit that was raised in Oct 1935 and renamed I./Pz.Rgt.1 on 15 Jan 43 commanded by Generalleutnant Walter Kruger primarily on The Eastern Front, and latterly the Balkans. If only the stories this belt could tell us. Highly desirable.
